Per the research of Jesse Brock: William served in Co. C., 4th Florida Infantry, CSA. He was a Private, and was a musician in the band. He was enlisted in the Confederate Army for 3-years on Sep 5, 1861, in St. Marks, Florida, by Capt. Stockton, after that enlistment, he enlisted again. He was captured Dec 16, 1864 near Nashville, Tennessee, and received that the Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky on Jan 2, 1865, and was discharged Jan 4, 1865, and transferred to Camp Chase in Kentucky. 64
