Although her birth state is given in the 1850 census it isn't absolutely clear. There are entries for both North and South Carolina on the page, and it more closely resembles those from North Carolina. The 1900 census entry for her son, Moses, says that she was born in North Carolina.
Her name isn't perfectly clear in the 1850 census but it seems to read Louanna, or Lavinia, but in the 1860 census, still not perfectly clear, it seems to read Lorina. 66,117
