Mary Anne Elizabeth Abilene Singleton ^62,124,125

  Research Notes:

Because of her three middle names, it's likely that her maiden name was Abilene, and that she was first married to a Singleton. However, there is no surname of Abilene or similar in the 1880 census that I've found (nothing even close or similar), but there are Singleton's living about this Sparks family, so, although extremely unusual, she may have had three middle names. The 1910 census provides some clarity in that Eddie Sparks, 17, adopted son, is listed in Jim's household. Therefore, it seems probable that Eddie is Mary's child by a previous marriage.

The 1910 census says she is 36 and Jim is 32. His age agrees with earlier census data, but hers indicates she was born about 1873/74 vice 1877 per family information. Then the 1900 census says that she is 22, and born in August 1878, for census taken in June (note the year here isn't clear at all, but the census month, age of 22, and birth month of August is perfectly clear).

Per the 1900 census, her father's birth place is unknown, and her mother was born in Georgia.

Although Ed is listed in the 1910 census as the son of James & Mary Sparks, he isn't Mary's biological son. However, per this census, he is an adopted son, so he is Mary's legal son, and therefore listed as her child. ^124,125
