bullet  General Notes:

Sometime about 1830, Jesse and Delah moved to Paint Rock, Alabama where they purchased land and began farming. The 1850 Census of Jackson County lists Martha, his sister, having been born in North Carolina in 1805. After Delah died in about 1854, Jesse married Sarah Gray, Jesse is reportedly buried by Delah near Estillfork, Alabama.

Per the research of Ethel Taylor: For many years it was believed that Jesse and Delilah were buried around Estill Fork, Alabama. Research found them in Fannin Co., Georgia in the 1860 census; they were listed as Jesse and Delah Prinns. They had apparently moved to Georgia with daughter Elizabeth and David Rutledge about 1853/54. You will notice also their grandson, Anderson, son of Preshia and Willis Ashley was born in Fannin County March 27, 1854. Apparently WIllis and Preshia were there for a bit also, and back in Franklin County by December 1855, when Sarah Catherine was born. Jesse and Delilah's grave hasn't been located in Georgia, that is to say, they may have traveled back to Jackson Co., Alabama before the war began in 1861, but, at this point, it is unknown. 1,21

bullet  Research Notes:

There is a Jesse Prince listed as head-of-household in the 1820 Census, Buncombe Co., North Carolina: Jesse Prince: 2 males <10, 1 male 18-26, 1 female <10, and 1 female 16-18. Note: On the surface this indicates that Jesse and his first wife had 2 mailes and 1 female child prior to the 1820 Census. However, the 1820 Census indicates his wife's age as 16-18 it would not be possible for them to have three children of their own at this time. Since William wasn't born until 1821, it's certain that these three minor children can't be their offspring because his wife simply isn't old enough to have that many children.

However, if Isham Prince proves to be his father, then it's possible that in the 1820 Census, that Jesse and his bride are living in his parents household. The presence of 3 minor children in the 1820 Census above casts a serious shadow of doubt that this is the same Jesse Prince (perhaps a relative). In the 1810 Census, Isham Prince has sufficient children and age separations to meet the requirements for both Jesse and Zachariah to be in his household, but in the 1820 Census, Isham's family has grown more females that the 1810 Census can account for then, and at older ages than the 1810 Census. Thus, it seems likely that Jesse married and he new bride lives with him in the household of his parents. 22
