Y-Line DNA Markers (Both Genebase & Genographics Tested): The below Y-Line Markers show a close relationship with Niall Noigiallach. Based on the comparison of my Y-DNA and Niall Noigiallach's Y-DNA STR markers, 17 out of 23 match, for a measured genetic distance of 6, and maybe more since Niall is missing 31 markers. The average mutation rate for Y-DNA markers is approximately 20 generations, or 1 genetic distance approximately every 20 generations, or upwards of 120 generations separating us. Thus, although surely in the same family tree, our most recent common ancestor is far removed. Niall was also a conqueror, and noted for taking hostages from coastal Europe, which undoubtedly included many women, many of whom undoubtedly were his willing or unwilling or indifferent concubines.
Mitochondrial DNA Markers (Genebase) The below markers show a close relationship with Marie Antoinette. My HVR-1 region of mtDNA closely matches the HVR-1 region of Marie Antoinette's mtDNA at all but 1 marker.
