These abbreviations are simply meant to add clarity to using this web site, but the purpose of the abbreviations are to conserve printed space, and database size.

(hod) Have original document Meaning that I have either the original or a photostat copy of the original. In most cases, a photostat copy.
(vod) Viewed original document Meaning that I have viewed the original or copy of the original document
(htd) Have transcribed document A person has transcribed an original or equivalent document, and produced another document that contains what that person believed to be the correct information from the original. Can have errors.
(sic) Spelling isn't clear Although I think the spelling is correct as I entered it, the text isn't legible enough to be certain.
(nic) Number isn't clear Although I think the number is correct, some aspect of the print is distorted enough to introduce uncertainty.
MFiche Micro-Fiche, also inclusive of Micro-Film The media containing the original source of data that I used.
film Refers to the "film" number of the MFiche/MFilm Number used to find the source page. Typically transcriptions, but not always. Search for it on the referenced web site.
LDS Latter Day Saints Refers to the Latter Day Saints genealogy web site. Typically internet address: familysearch.org
FAG Find-a-Grave Refers to internet address findagrave.com. Now owned by ancestry.com but still using the original internet address
FindAGrave FindAGrave.com memorial Memorial only; no photo of tombstone so content isn't verified; at-large updates might convert content to verified.
Mem Memorial If preceded by FindaGrave, it's only a memorial, but if preceded by Tombstone, a photo of a tombstone verifies the details.
née Refers to a womans maiden name i.e., née Smith 
SF# State File number Refers to the number a state uses to file an official document; in my use it's mostly marriages, or as applicable.
Cn Certificate number Before a SF# was used on marriage certificates, I used this. Generally, it means the same as SF#, but not always.
E.D. or ED Enumeration District A census term at the top of each page; the only term I use for the macro location, if it is given. Specific locations, if known are included with it, as well as the date that page was taken, and the applicable family number.
Twsp. Township A census term, as well as used in other sources. Typically smaller locations that grow and eventually lose the Township designation.
MG Minister of the Gospel Frequently seen in state marriage index entries; surely for brevity.
PBC Primitive Baptist Church Used to conserve space
UMC United Methodist Church Used to conserve space

Arteriosclerosis Thickening or hardening of the walls of the arteries Hardening of the arteries by the buildup of plaque
Atherosclerosis Abnormalities or lesions in the walls of the arteries Can lead to arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) -- usually no symptoms
ASCVD ArterioSclerotic CardioVascular Disease A general  hardening of the veins and arteries
ASHD ArterioSclerotic Heart Disease Hardening of the veins and arteries in the heart
Cerebral Of or relating to the brain  
COPD Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Long-term breathing problems or air flow, like chronic bronchitis or emphysema
CVD Cardio Vascular Disease Collective term for diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
Hyperglycemia Persistently high blood sugar Usually refers to Type-1 Diabetes or Diabetes mellitus
Hypoglycemia Persistently low blood sugar Commonly occurs in conjunction with diabetes treatment (too much insulin that lowers glucose
Hypertension Persistently high blood pressure Can occur as a result of medications to enhance or reduce blood pressure
Hypotension Persistently low blood pressure Can occur as a result of medications to enhance or reduce blood pressure
ID Instrumental Delivery Where forceps or vacuum device is used to assist the mother in transitioning the infant to extra uterine life.
La grippe Or commonly just grippe An infectious disease caused by the influenza virus (can be mild to severe, and different strains)
Pulmonary embolus Pulmonary embolism Blockage of a artery in the lungs, usually by a blood clot moved from elsewhere in the body.
Pulmonary thrombosis Similar to pulmonary embolus Blockage of a blood vessel in the lungs, usually by a blood clot from elsewhere in the body
Thrombosis Formation of a blood clot inside a blood vein or artery
