Another researcher indicates he was born in December 1859 in DeKalb Co., Alabama, but 1870-1880 census data indicate he was born about 1860-1861. However he is listed in the 1860 census, taken in July, age 7/12th, so he was born about December 1859, or possibly January 1860. 62
