Delma and Zelma are twins. Before entering the U.S. Army during World War II, Delma was employed by the Southern Railroad, Woodville, AL. His death was due to injuries received during a bombing raid at Dutch Harbor during World War II. He died in the VA Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee. According to his Army discharge papers, he served at Fort Mears, Alaska during the bombing raid by Japanese air forces on 3-4 June, 1942. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was not entitled to receive a certificate of service, but was entitled to receive the American Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on Oct 6, 1944, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. 1,13
