Both single. There is some confusion concerning her maiden name on their marr. record, but the record is a transcription. Their marr. record transcription name her as Annie J. Mayhew, and also shows that both were single. She was born Jun. 8, 1906, and they married Dec. 29, 1920, making her 14-yrs, 6-mos. 21-days. That's barely possible for a 1st marriage age, and making it certainly not possible for a previous marriage to a Mayhew. Thus, the transcription seems totally wrong. BUT, her orig. death cert. clearly names her as Annie Jane Wyatt, wife of Malcolm A Wyatt, and parents as Alvin T. Mayhew, born Franklin Co., Va., and Martha F. McKinney, born Va., which matches their marr. rec. transcription. The 1920 census also names her as Annie J. Mayhew, 13, only D/o A.T. & Martha F. Mayhew.
Further confusion is an Annie J. Wells, of the same age, born to William B. Wells & Martha A. Gentle. But, after the 1910 census, she seems to disappear.
