His marriage certificate clearly shows he marriage Louise on May 2, 1955, but their children were born well before that. It also says this was his 3d marriage. His WWII draft card in 1942 names his wife as Louise and this marriage certificate gives his wife's name as Mary Louise (Lemons) Lemons. Thus, the 1955 marriage is probably a remarriage after they previously divorced. The possibility of a 2d wife also name Louise is avoided in that Louise is living in the household of her parents in the 1920 census. The possibility still exists that they didn't marry throughout the birth of their children, and only married in 1955.
